Who will Meredith pick? Well, you know I'm rooting for McDreamy! ;) I might even stay home from knit group on Thursday so I can watch...now that's an obsession!

Old Things Become New

Mary of MaryMo fame and I had a convo not long ago about antiquing and some funky finds I found here in Phoenix at a little place called Sage...it got me thinking about how many things that surround me that are old in age, but that have become new things in my home. Things that others may have discarded, but things that I truly love and treasure....here are some of those old-new things:

This is a chalkboard from an old schoolhouse in Kansas...it was salvaged and was cut down to a smaller size and handpainted with "Today's Special" on top...this hangs on the wall between my dining room and kitchen and when we have company I like to list out what I will be serving in pretty colored chalk to add an extra special touch.

This is an old cabinet door from a Craftsman bungalow. It was painted over, hung on it's side and says, "De Bain" on it...which in French means "The Bath"..this hangs outside our guest bathroom.

This is an old ceiling tile that was aged and handpainted with "Aubon Marche Paris"...which in French means literally "To the Good Step"..or "A Good Market"...meaning a wonderful place...

The next 2 pictures are of pieces of ceiling tin that were salvaged from a gothic cathedral and soldered together to form this piece that hangs in our dining room.

This is an old claw foot from a Ball and Clawfoot Tub...I turned them upside down and use them as bookends.

This is a closeup of a lamp that sits on my nightstand...it is made from old iron garden fence and painted to look antique.

This is an old Dutch shoe form that was originally used to stretch shoe leather into particular sizes...this one being a size 8B. I have a pair of these that sit on top of a hat box on top of a bookshelf in my bedroom.

This is an old porcelain glove form...kind of the same idea as the shoe form really..to stretch the leather to a particular size. I use mine to hold necklaces.

And last, but certainly not the least is another claw foot from an old tub that we turned upside down and made into a sconce in the master bathroom...I can take NO credit for this idea because it was completely the Mr's...he rigged it up and I LOVE it.

I'd love to see some of your old, but new to you treasures that may be living and adding character to your house. :)

A new MeMe

So I saw this on Sara's blog and thought I would give it a whirl...

1. Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, find line 4. Write down what it says:
...with his kids, takes five....People Magazine talking about Jude Law...Grrrr...

2. Stretch your left arm out as far as you can...what
do you touch first?

air

3. What is the last thing you watched on TV?
Friends rerun

4. WITHOUT LOOKING, what time is it?

5:10pm

5. Now look at the clock, what is the actual time?

5:16pm

6. With the exception of the computer, what can you hear?
Bri in the kitchen making meatballs..LOL...Syd running around saying'"My Hike, My Hike!"...which means MY KITE....and the same Friends rerun.

7. When did you last step outside?
About 2 hours ago to get the mail.

8. What are you wearing?
Chocolate Brown Capris and a white vneck tee

9. When did you last laugh?

At Syd playing with Levi with a string from her "hike"

10. Seen anything weird lately?
Lately? Everytime I look in the mirror...you can't get much weirder. ;)

11. What did you dream last night?

I have no idea.

12. What's on the walls of the room you're in?
An old ceiling tin with the words "Aubon Marche Paris" scrolled on it, a toile covered bulletin board with pics on it, a French calendar, cork board squares with cards/photos on it...I'm at desk area!

14. What do you think of this survey?

Loves it.

15. What's the last film you saw?
Derailed with Jennifer Aniston and Clive Owen...FREAKY!

16. If you became a multi-millionaire overnight, what would you buy first?
A Turbo Mini Cooper

17. Tell me something about you that I don't know.
I have this thing about clean feet. I seriously wash my feet A LOT. I hate the feeling of sticky feet.

18. Do you like to dance?
Yeah!

19. Imagine your first child is a girl, what do you call her?
My first child is a girl and her name is Sydney Rian.

20. Boy?
Well if we had a boy we were going to name him, Tanner Dennis. Tanner was a really awesome kid that Bri and I taught in a class once and Dennis is B's dad's name...he died when B was 15. The other names we liked were Cole and Sidney.

21. Would you ever consider living abroad?

Probably not.
